Silvassa is a beautiful place situated within the borders of Maharashtra and Gujarat and the place is the capital of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The region is shared by the twin areas. The name 'Silvassa' is derived from the Portuguese word Silva which means wood. The city has a large number of factories and industries providing significant government revenue, which allows the city to maintain a low level of taxation. Far from being a tribal region, it has now developed into an industrial hub with major industrial companies setting up manufacturing bases in the region. Silvassa to its credit has great roads and is surrounded with astounding trees. The nearest railway stations are Vapi and Bhilad. Silvassa is also famous for the lion safari at the Vasona park, located close to the locale. Deer parks at Khanvel and Satmaliya are other wildlife attractions in the vicinity. The Daman Ganga River flows along the border of the city.
